    Description

This "G" Scale structure  is a copy of the  eight sided barns  built in America during the 1800's.  Its dimensions are
18 inches in height and 18.5 inches in diameter. Usinng "G" scale, these dimensions approximate the height as 39 scale feet and the diameter as 40 scale feet which results in a sizeable structure 4 to 5 storys high.
It is handmade from early drawings of the barn and any deviations from the original can be attributed to artistic license.  The eight sided design is
sturdy and was built in this form so as to tolerate the ever shifting wind direction.  This model is constructed of re-sawn Western Red Cedar and 3/16 " moisture resistant plywood.  All exterior coatings are exterior grade finishes and the interior walls and floor are coated with an oli based finish.   The roof is supported by the wall posts into which the walls themselves have been inserted in grooves allowing for the entire barn interior to be free of supports, picture 2, thus allowing for the ability to detail the interior in various ways.  The beam structure is about the same as the  construction method  that was used in the actual barns,  pictures 3, 4 & 11.  The triangular roof segments  are inserted into the grooved slanted roof beams  that further strengthens  this  structure. Window trim is wrap around  both inside and outside,
picture 10.  Referring to pictures 5 & 6 the "G" scale figures and track section shows how the barn appears with items of that scale. The roof is easily removed and reinserted as it is only a press fit.  Pictures 8 & 9 show the tacks indicating the alignment for the two modules.  Picture 7 shows the roof inserted upside down into the base for shipment.
This structure was built to be used in an outdoor garden railroad setting and was not intended to be a fine scale model but is sufficiently detailed to make a good appearance. The track section, figures and cat are not included in this listing.  The barn weighs less than 10 pounds and ships for free.
