    Description
This is a very nice brand new black iron Billy Allen mouthpiece Cowhorse show bit with engraved sterling silver shanks.  The gorgeous engraved sterling silver is inlaid on the cheeks and a 1-7/8 inch diameter engraved sterling concho is on each side of the bit.  This bit is very balanced and weighs 1 pound 1 ounce.  The bit measures 8 inches long with a 3 inch purchase for a 2.67 to one leverage ratio.  The mouthpiece is a 5 inches wide by 3/8 inch in diameter medium Billy Allen three piece roller bit.
This bit features a swept back Vaquero style black steel loose cheek.
If you feel like you need a bit with a bit of side to side mobility that you cannot get in a solid mouth bit, a barrel bit is the way to go.  The Billy Allen bit allows for mobility to each side of the bit without the confusion of the non-barrel broken bits.
This is a great transition bit for when the horse is ready progress from the snaffle and advance to a leverage bit.  The Billy Allen introduces the horse to the curb strap and vertical flexion while still allowing the rider to use one rein at a time as needed.  This bit does not fold up in a horse’s mouth and allows the rider to communicate laterally with the horse.
The bit is named for famed Kansas trainer Billy Allen who trained and showed 11 World Champions and many Honor Roll horses including Zan Parr Bar, Zan Gold Jack, Zippen Zanita and The Highfalutin Dude.  In 1976, Allen campaigned three different horses to win high point titles in three events, with Sugaro Pistol in reining, Miss Harlacue in tie-down roping, and Two Eyed Patti in team roping.  One of the reasons Allen has been so successful as a trainer is his philosophy that the rider needs to let the horse tell the rider what he wants to do.  During this period, Billy first designed and created the Billy Allen western curb bit, and in 1979 he founded Billy Allen Products.  The design has stood the test of time as one of the best bits ever invented.
This stunning perfectly balanced bit will make a great addition to your show bit collection and will look great in any show ring setting.
Don't miss out on the chance to add this great Sterling Silver Cowhorse bit to your training and show collection.
