Description(s):
These 12-cups and 12-saucers are
from an estate sale & were all inside of an opened box that had dried paper
wrapping & very dry straw. I decided to remove all of the china, have it gently cleaned & inspect the items. The
china pieces all cleaned up very nicely. The cups & saucers DO NOT have any breaks, chips or cracks. The white
china areas are smooth to the touch, however the floral areas are not & both are by design.
These items
, I believe, were either used very, very gently OR just displayed. The individual units are in very
good
condition. The cups & saucers have the imperfections that you would expect to see & feel in 'china' from
the manufacturing process.
These china pieces are rather lightweight & very delicate.
On the historical side
, these items were manufactured between 1945-1951 when
W
estern forces occupied Japan.
Items
destined for the United States,
during this time frame, needed to
be marked w/ "Occupied Japan" OR
"Made in Occupied Japan".
Colors:  The 12 individual cups and saucers have a white background w/ green, pink & purple colors, w/ multiple
shades per color. Also different shades of brown/tan & yellow are present. All of the pieces have gold areas on them.
Design(s):  The design appears to be a set of three different sized & formed roses in a grouping that are accompanied w/
green vines & leaves.
The cups have
3 rose sets each that appear to be hanging down from the cup top rim.
The saucers
have
6 rose sets that are all laying down & coming off of the gold trim.
Scalloped edges
make up the edge of the base
on the cups & the rim edge of the saucers. The scalloped edges are more pronounced on the cups.
Trim:
The cups have a
thin gold trim line on the top rim as well as the lip edge, gold on the top of each small handle &
a gold pattern on the top of the base per cup.
The saucers have a
gold trim on the outer ridge, w/ a raised relief scroll
type pattern per saucer. The gold trim areas of the pieces
appear to show wear and/or it could be by design
.

Cups = 1.4 oz. Each; Approx. 3", Top measurement w/ handle
Saucers = 2.6 oz. Each; Approx. 4" Circumference
Imperfections:

Original box & packaging that was not in good condition; so it was
disposed of
.
Some scuffs/scrapes
on the cups & saucers both tops & bottoms.
A few of the interior of the cups have small raised "bumps"
from the manufacturing process.
Some of the cups & saucers have small "flecks" of the gold, on the white of the china
; from the manufacturing process.

The cups & saucers may have manufacturer imperfections; to include construction of, design of, color, paint & size
variations.

a small, rather old & faded label, that was on the inside of the box these items were in; for a
reference
only. This IS NOT included with the cups and saucers.

These items are listed as "New, other" however they may not be perfect.
These items may have dents/dings; scrapes/scuffs; as well as marks/stains/scratches.
