    Description

For sale an old, quite early souvenirs necklace from the Society islands or Tahiti. Never have I seen such tiny -and also divers- shells being strung as a necklace. No idea how they made a hole and even a string through hundreds of shells. See the photos. One can open and close the necklace by means of the endclip; the goldcolored "egg" above.  Estimated 1900- 1930's
Coming from the estate from an ex-whaler Jan Vantook who worked at a whalingstation Salvesen &Co in the Faroe islands. Most pieces in the listing are from him. He served on a ship starting at age 23 in 1934 until 1950.
Condition; excellent.  Measures; 26cm double or 50cm round
