Old Maori jade 'Hei Tiki" Warriors pendant ! (Polynesia,Marquesas,Fiji,tonga)

Description

For sale an old quite beautifull jade 'hei tiki' pendant worn by Maori Chiefs and warriors. It looks and feels quite old and worn and has some sort of red resin (original; I assume natural) in the eyes. In some thinner areas the jade is translucent. See also the fine engraved lines on the surface. It comes on a professional high end bronze/copper stand (nice weight). Estimated 1850- 1900
Coming from the estate from an ex-whaler Jan Vantook who worked at a whalingstation Salvesen &Co in the Faroe islands. Most pieces in the listing are from him. He served on a ship starting at age 23 in 1934 until 1950.
