Old Fijian Warriors Speartop; old sticker (Polynesia,Marquesas,Fiji,Maori,Hawai)

Description

For sale an old Fijian wood Warriors Speartop. Beautifull carved piece with hunderds of carved 'lobes'/barbs. Thankfully not the whole spear which can be up to 4 meters; just the intricately carved top. With an old sticker at the bottom and attached to a heavy hardstone base (old too). Not many Fijian spear (-tops) I have seen on the market and it gives a nice curious contrast with any other sculpture!  Estimated 1950-1900
Coming from the estate from an ex-whaler Jan Vantook who worked at a whalingstation Salvesen &Co in the Faroe islands. Most pieces in the listing are from him. He served on a ship starting at age 23 in 1934 until 1950.
Condition; excellent but some 'lobes' are cut short near the bottom end.  Measures; H.92 x W4.5cm
