    POSSIBLE McCHESNEY BIT
    This is a real nice heavy old bit and is the first one like it that I have seen.
    I think perhaps the silver has been removed from it many years ago,
    I think it would date from the late 1800's to early 1900's
    I could not find a makers mark on it of any kind (The early ones were NOT marked)  but reminds me a McChesney Bit, I think it might be in Lee Jacobs Book on McChesney
    We are listing today some old HORSE BITS that we have had in storage for well over 28 years.  A few of our antique bits were purchased from Gerard Malm who wrote the wonderful Book on Bits. I do not think that we are listing today were from him.
    THESE Old Bits ARE GETTING HARD TO FIND~!~
    It is in AS FOUND CONDITION, I have not removed any of the rust.
    The mouth is 4 5/8" wide
    The total length of the bit is 7" and rings are fixed
    The roundish pieces on the side are 1 5/8" across
    For around 30 years we have been collecting antique bits and spurs and through the years and these good old bits and spurs are getting very hard to find
    These are no longer made as these were made in the great USA
