Description
These are 3 Native American drawing and photo prints. The12" by 16" print is of "
VARIOUS ARTICLES at NOOTKA SOUND
"
which is in British Columbia. This was an engraving made on
Captain Cook's 3rd voyage to Hawaii which he called the Sandwich Islands
. The years of his 3rd voyage were between 1776 and 1780. These articles were
originally an engraving that were made into a print in 1975 by Darvill's Rare Print Shop
on the Orcas Island in Washington state. This is that print. On the reverse is information about Captain Cook's voyages to Hawaii and how these came to be printed. It is a reproduction of engravings although this is an original print of those engravings. This is sealed in plastic to keep it in its original condition though it is a little rumpled.
The other 2 prints are photos of Native Americans and items they use. One is
Pomo Seed Gathering Utensils
. It measures about 14 1/2" by 17 1/2" and it is a photo of baskets used for seed gathering a winnowing. The Pomo are from the California area. The 3rd photo print shows
2 native American's in costumes
. The headdress in the drawn print is being worn by the Indians in this photo. I assume that means they are from Nootka Sound in British Columbia. This print is the same size as the Pomo Seed print. Both of these have been rolled up so will need flattening to frame. To see all 8 photo, click on the photo arrow.

BIDDING TIPS
BIN:
EBay used to be an auction only web site. Then they introduced
B
uy
I
t
N
ow
and now most purchases are BIN. That means that auctions, which usually ask less $, are being ignored and often get no bids. You might consider bidding on auctions again because you have a much better chance of winning than before BIN was introduced.
AUCTIONS: Advantages of Earlier Bidding
When you bid,
it locks in the seller's description
.
It can only be added to only at the very bottom of the page where no one looks. If you see an error that may discourage bidding, (spelling etc) it is to your advantage to force that error to remain because other bidders may then miss it altogether. Try misspelling your item and see what comes up.
An early bid also prevents the seller from later adding a Buy It Now
to a listing. It must remain an auction if it has a bid and cannot disappear because someone emailed the seller with a good BIN offer.
Watch List:
M
any bidders put items on their WATCH List and then they wait until the very end to bid. There are advantages and disadvantages to this approach
.
The
advantage is that you are not driving up the price by bidding with your competition. The
disadvantage
is that bidders
often forget to keep track of their watched items
and find out too late
that the item sold for less than you would have been willing to pay, or it didn't sell at all and you could have had it for the minimum bid
.
The solution to this dilemma
:
Bid
just the minimum
bid amount early on.
You can still bid at the end, and it doesn't drive up the price because it is just the minimum. Also, if you tend to lose track of what is on your WATCH LIST, then you wouldn't have to worry about losing an item that receives no other bids because you would already have bid.
Even the most careful bidder can have an unforeseen interruption that prevents him/her from bidding and lose the item altogether.
Decide on your maximum
:
If you bid at the very end, bid the maximum.
If you really bid your maximum, you won't need to feel bad if the item was outbid.
Someone else may
seem
to have outbid you by so little, but you don't know how high the other bidder actually bid.
If you want it no matter what it costs
:
If money is no object and you
must have an item no matter what it costs
, Then bid some ridiculously high amount that no one else would possibly bid.
***NEW EBAYERS:
New bidders are often confused by the bidding process. They worry that their high bid is what they will pay and that isn't necessarily the case.
EBay bids for you in increments
depending on how high the bidding goes. (increments of 25 cents, 50 cents, , .50 on up). The only way you will pay the maximum you've bid is when
someone else bids close to or the same as your maximum
. In cases where someone else bids the same as you, the first bidder is high bidder until more bids come in.
In auctions combined with a Buy It Now Price, if you don't want to pay the BIN price than bid the auction amount and BIN will disappear so no one else can Buy It Now anymore.
