Engraved Sterling Silver Flat Shank Billy Allen Mullen MB32 Low Barrel BiBitBit
    Lvl 3
    Description
This is a new engraved Sterling Silver flat shanked bit with a low mullen port 5 inch wide x 3/8 diameter MB32 style Billy Allen mouthpiece.  The  mullen port barrel mouthpiece is considered to be a mild level 3 type bit.
The shanks measure 7-1/2 inches in length and the purchase measures 3 inches for a 2.5 to 1 leverage ratio.   The bit weighs a nice lightweight 14.4 ounces.
With a medium degree of leverage, this shank bit provides an indirect curb rein action designed to be used with a curb strap attached to the purchase.
If you feel like you need a bit with a bit of side to side mobility that you cannot get in a solid mouth bit, a barrel bit is the way to go.  The Billy Allen bit allows for mobility to each side of the bit without the confusion of the non-barrel broken bits.
This is a great transition bit for when the horse is ready progress from the snaffle and advance to a leverage bit.  The Billy Allen introduces the horse to the curb strap and vertical flexion while still allowing the rider to use one rein at a time as needed.  This bit does not fold up in a horse’s mouth and allows the rider to communicate laterally with the horse.
The bit is named for famed Kansas trainer Billy Allen who trained and showed 11 World Champions and many Honor Roll horses including Zan Parr Bar, Zan Gold Jack, Zippen Zanita and The Highfalutin Dude.  In 1976, Allen campaigned three different horses to win high point titles in three events, with Sugaro Pistol in reining, Miss Harlacue in tie-down roping, and Two Eyed Patti in team roping.  One of the reasons Allen has been so successful as a trainer is his philosophy that the rider needs to let the horse tell the rider what he wants to do.  During this period, Billy first designed and created the Billy Allen western curb bit, and in 1979 he founded Billy Allen Products.  The design has stood the test of time as one of the best bits ever invented.
